How to Make a Star Bead Bracelet – Easy Seed Bead Pattern

Diy April 7, 2026

This beautiful Star Bead Bracelet is made with size 8° seed beads and a simple repeating stitch. It looks impressive, but it’s actually very beginner-friendly. Each star is created by adding center beads to a circular base.

The finished bracelet length is 6.5 inches (perfect for small to medium wrists), and you can easily adjust the size by adding or removing stars.

Materials List (for a 6.5” bracelet)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Before You Start

  • Place your beads on a bead mat to prevent rolling.
  • Thread your needle with 1.5 yards of thread. Do not cut it shorter — you need the length for multiple stars.
  • Add a stop bead about 4 inches from the end of the thread. This prevents beads from falling off while you work.

Step 1 – Create the star base ring (20 beads)

1a. Pick up 20 beads in your outline color (the color you want the star’s outer edge to be). Slide them down to the stop bead.

1b. Circle back clockwise through the first bead you picked up (as shown in the diagram). Then continue through the next 2 beads.

📌 You now have a ring of 20 beads, with your thread exiting the 3rd bead.

Step 2 – Add first center bead

Pick up 1 bead of your center color.

Skip 3 beads on the ring, and pass your needle through the 4th bead (counting from where your thread exited).

Pull the thread snug. The bead you just added should sit nicely inside the ring.

The second picture in the original tutorial shows how the beads should look after pulling snug.

Step 3 – Add second center bead

Pick up 1 bead of your center color again.

Skip 3 beads on the ring, and go through the 4th bead.

Pull snug.

Step 4 – Add third center bead

Pick up 1 center bead.

Skip 3 beads on the ring, and go through the 4th bead.

Pull snug.

Step 5 – Add fourth center bead

Pick up 1 center bead.

Skip 3 beads on the ring, and go through the 4th bead.

Pull snug.

Step 6 – Add fifth center bead

Pick up 1 center bead.

Skip 3 beads on the ring, and go through the 4th bead.

Pull snug.

Step 7 – Complete the first star

After step 6, you should have added 5 center beads total — one between each gap of 3 outline beads.

Your thread should now be exiting next to the last center bead. Weave it through a few beads to secure, then start the next star by repeating steps 1–6.

Step 8 – Continue for the full bracelet

Repeat the star pattern until your bracelet reaches approximately 6.5 inches (or your desired wrist length).

For most wrists:

  • Small (6”) → 5–6 stars
  • Medium (6.5”) → 6–7 stars
  • Large (7”) → 7–8 stars

Step 9 – Finish the ends

When you’ve made the last star:

  • Weave the thread back through 5–6 beads in different directions.
  • Tie 2–3 small half‑hitch knots between beads.
  • Pass the needle through 3–4 more beads, then trim the thread close to a bead.

Do the same with the starting tail (the 4” tail from the stop bead). Remove the stop bead, thread the tail onto a needle, weave it through beads, knot, and trim.

Step 10 – Attach the clasp

You will need 3 jump rings:

  1. Open one jump ring with pliers (twist sideways — don’t pull apart).
  2. Attach it to the first star at a sturdy point (through 2–3 outline beads).
  3. Close the jump ring.
  4. Open a second jump ring. Attach it to the clasp and to the first jump ring. Close.
  5. Repeat on the other end of the bracelet with the third jump ring and the other half of the clasp.

Done! Your Star Bracelet is Finished

Wear it alone or stack it with other beaded bracelets. The star pattern looks especially beautiful in:

  • Gold outline + turquoise center
  • Silver outline + navy center
  • Black outline + neon pink center

Pro Tips

✔ Use size 8° seed beads – they’re large enough for beginners to see and handle easily.
✔ Keep tension consistent – not too tight (bracelet won’t lie flat) and not too loose (gaps will appear).
✔ Check your count – always skip exactly 3 beads between center beads.
✔ If your thread tangles, let the needle dangle every few minutes to unwind.
✔ For a stronger bracelet, use FireLine or WildFire thread instead of nylon.
